PRISON Regulations by Jurisdiction

Each state establishes its own rules for the prisons in its system. That means that if a person in a prison in Kentucky wants vegetarian food, s/he has to follow different procedures and file different forms from those filed by a person in a prison in Iowa (or any other state). The Federal Bureau of Prisons also has its own regulations which govern the procedures in their of 114 institutions.

This means that there are 51 sets of regulations governing diets in the nation's prison system.

In this section of our website you can find the results of our attempts to obtain and post all of the regulations for each jurisdiction - that's 51 sets of rules and regulations. If you find any errors, or if you know details that we should post, please contact us.
